advent 22 – adventure of a lifetime

by Michelle Vang

Life is full of the unknown and I have learned to call it adventure. Instead of seeking negative, I choose positive because I Praise the Lord for giving ME LIFE. Every morning before getting out of bed, since I don’t know what the day will be like or how it ends, I PTL.

Psalm 146:2 NIV

I will praise the Lord all my life;

    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

My mornings are not always happy though. Yes, I do get frustrated and angry when my children don’t want to wake up and get ready for the day. I am human too and I yell to rush everyone because everyone is moving so incredibly slow. Time is still going and does not slow down, so when we are running behind schedule, I’m quick to become overwhelmed. When I become this way, I really need to step back and breathe, because moments before I had just thanked God for creating a new day for life.

I never thought I’d be in this situation at all, even though it’s been almost two years. Being a single mother is extremely difficult and challenging. I cry sometimes when I think about all the good God has done through my family. However, I cannot control when people decide to choose another direction and I’m reminded of these verses.

Psalm 146:3 NIV

Do not put your trust in princes,

    in human beings, who cannot save.

Sometimes life can feel hectic, messy, uncertain, weary, lost, broken, and more, but I give all my praise to God, I see that His way is the Most Beautiful and Joyous. Our Father has paved the way for us, centuries before our existence. When we can seek Him, His Ways and His Timing that is an adventure toward contentment.

Psalm 146 NIV

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;

    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes,

    in human beings, who cannot save.

When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;

    on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,

    whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,

    the sea, and everything in them—

    he remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed

    and gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets prisoners free,

    the Lord gives sight to the blind,

the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,

    the Lord loves the righteous.

The Lord watches over the foreigner

    and sustains the fatherless and the widow,

    but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10

The Lord reigns forever,

    your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord.
